About me
Artist and Designer
John Bolster creates layered, abstract compositions by fusing raw physical textures—spray paint, torn paper, splattered ink—with digital design precision. His process transforms everyday materials into collaged expressions that explore perception, fragmentation, and flow. Using a unique hybrid method, he blends analog spontaneity with deliberate digital composition to evoke both chaos and clarity.
Born in 1975 in Saratoga Springs, NY, and currently based there, Bolster draws on his roots in graphic design, grunge culture, and music. His visual language is gritty, high-energy, and emotionally charged.
Working under the name Bolster Art, his work pushes against clean minimalism and instead leans into complexity and contradiction. “I want my art to shift people’s perception, even for just a moment,” he says. “That’s where meaning lives.”
